building & learning.
One element I would like to build into the game process, which would be optional for teachers to utilize, is the ability for interested students to learn basic coding and create their own levels. This would also represent a research element that certain groups would be able to participate in based on assignment of subjects.
Teachers can also create their own exercises, and utilize their own concert music, to customize the game. This involves the creation of a musical XML file in either Sibelius, Finale, or other comparable notation software, to be imported and used with the SmartMusic software platform.
This is a portion of my research which will be in development, but one I feel is worthy of exploration for teachers who would like to explore music technology. This could also make an overall contribution to long-overdue (imho) research on gaming in music education.
